Meet Maggie, a delightful 60 lb. Golden Retriever. She is full of life, equally happy going for walks or napping on the deck. Maggie is fully house and crate trained and loves to chew on her toys but is respectful of things that are not hers. She has a playful, puppy-like spirit, often chasing her tail or running joyful laps in the yard. While she is keenly interested in squirrels and rabbits, she has no interest in fetching. Maggie is a great traveler who stays calm in the car and settles down quickly with reassurance during thunderstorms. On neighborhood walks, she is very gentle when meeting children; however, because we have limited information about her past exposure to them, we recommend she go to a home with dog-savvy children over the age of 10. Since joining GRRoM, she has learned to sit on command and shows potential for further training. Maggie is easy to manage and would benefit from ongoing obedience work. She has previously lived successfully with a cat, though she has a history of some issues with the other dog in that home. While she does not act aggressively toward other dogs on walks, ensuring compatibility with other dogs in the adoptive home is important. A physical fence is preferred, though other forms of containment may be considered.
