Lady
LADY- Female - Born 7/13/2020
Status:
Ready for Adoption!
About:
Lady is a sweet, silly, and sassy girl. She would thrive in an experienced household with more than one person and any children in the home should be dog-savvy teens. She came to the rescue very overweight and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. She will need to be on daily medication to manage this condition, and her new family must be committed to continued weight loss and a healthy diet. As she has gotten the medical care she needs, her personality is beginning to shine through. Lady loves spending time outdoors and has a high prey drive (watch out rabbits!), so she must have a physical fence. She walks reasonably well on a leash but could benefit from continued training. She loves playing with balls and steals socks if given the opportunity. She has demonstrated some resource guarding tendencies around high value toys and socks, but that has been decreasing as she has gained confidence in her foster home. Lady has a stubborn streak and has been known to lie in the backyard, refusing to come in until she decides she is ready. She is smart and quickly learned the routines in her foster home. She is content to lie at your feet but will ask for attention if she feels you have been ignoring her. She is not crate trained and is able to be home for 8+ hours on her own, although she would much prefer to be with you. She rides well in a car. Lady tolerates other dogs, but we think she may prefer to be an only dog. Cats are unknown. Lady is looking for a loving family who will give her butt scratches, couch snuggles, short (but lengthening) walks, and will support her health and well-being.
