Birdie

Birthday: 4-11-2022 , Female Golden

Status:

Adopted!

About:

Birdie is a 60 lb. girl who is very polite, sweet, and loving.   Her ball is her life, and she will play fetch for hours. Due to this passion, she needs a yard. The yard does not need to be fenced, she just needs room to run, catch and bring her ball back to you. She’s getting good at walking on a leash but still needs a little work to prevent pulling.  She alerts to and may want to chase critters in her path like squirrels, birds and bunnies.  She is housebroken and rides great in the car. Birdie is crate trained but is used to being left uncrated with previous family and can be left for up to 8 hours listening to jazz music.  She stays off furniture unless invited and is low shedding!   She's had no known exposure to cats. She has resource guarded around the standard poodle but not the shih tzu that she grew up with, so she should be the only pet. She might be able to be around other dogs again over time, but consistent training to correct behavior will be needed. She has never resource guarded with people. She willingly gives you her toys and will let you take her food with no problem.  Birdie has not been around small children so GRRoM recommends children should be over the age of 14.  She knows basic commands, but she is only two so, of course, needs continued training and a family committed to this to help her become the best adult dog she can be. This amazing dog is ready to play ball with her new forever family!

Information about other animals:

Has displayed resource guarding with a standard poodlbe but not the Shih Tzu she grew up with. Would be best to be an only pet, but with time, training, and correct behavior, she may could work to be around other dogs.

No known exposure to cats.

Adoption Wish List:

  • A family willing to work with her on continued training, especially with resource guarding and her manners around other dogs.

  • Has been around small children. Children in the home should be older than 14.
