Marti Hurford (+ Flynn!)

Data & Project Analyst

My name is Marti and I am Flynn’s main caregiver and cheerleader. We live quietly in the beautiful Milford Village.

Before Flynn I fostered three different Goldens. But my story didn’t start there! Before that I adopted 10 yr old Sam and before him I adopted 10 yr old Murphy. So in one capacity or another GRRoM and I go back about 15 years!

Besides fostering Flynn, I’ve been merging my professional skills (PhD, VP of Corp Compliance in Behavioral Health Management, Consulting, Writing Policies and Grants, QM, Training, Social Work, et al), with my creative spirit (watercolors, ink, pastels, and building art forms for my gardens) that would be beneficial to GRRoM operations.

I also enjoy gardening (more of an obsession), knitting, and beta reviewing storylines for independent women authors.

In my spare time I love to make sourdough bread, or experiment with the starters. My oldest and first starter is named Meta after my German grandmother.

What makes Flynn so Special?

Flynn will be 5 yrs old on 11-20-25. No biggie, right?! Except for Flynn it means he has met his life expectancy. Flynn came to GRROM and then to my home as a medical emergency on September 18, 2021.

He was just shy of 10 months old and adorable as can be. One look and it was apparent that he was born with Congenital Hydrocephalism and what came with this condition included incontinence, poor and distorted eyesight, gait/balance issues, and digestive issues.

Other health hurdles come and go but with his wonderful care team this young man continues to surprise us all and lives to twirl and prance another day!
