Liz Danko

Transportation Coordinator / Foster

I applied to GRRom last fall to be a foster. I thought it would be a wonderful way to get an occasional visitor  for our girl, Frida May,  and “try on” having two dogs.

Volunteering to pick up our first foster, part of a mill rescue, gave me an opportunity to meet Charlie, our former coordinator, and see firsthand the challenge of getting these dogs where they need to be. I soon became his “assistant , and when he became ill, took this on full time. He is still missed.

Working with GRRom, I have learned to leave my judgement at the door. There are so many heart touching stories behind each surrender, and I’ve found that most owners just want what’s best for their dog.

With patience, understanding and compassion, each dog we bring in will get the loving family they deserve. It’s been an honor and adventure to be part of this wonderful Golden team!
