Six weeks ago, Chuck went home with his forever family. And we think it’s safe to say this boy has found exactly where he belongs.
His family says it would be hard to imagine a better dog. Chuck has settled beautifully into their home and routine, and after a few weeks of learning to relax, he’s now prancing around with his head held high, tail wagging and feathers flying. That famous Golden smile says it all.
He’s lost a little more weight, is enjoying his meals, and has officially mastered the family schedule. Apparently, he also knows exactly when his 9:00 am biscuit is due!
His confidence continues to grow. His crate has been replaced with comfy beds, he’s comfortable being home alone for short periods, and he feels safe and happy in his house and backyard.
There’s still one challenge: the big, scary world beyond his front porch. But his family is taking it one tiny step at a time. Through patience, desensitization, a long line and lots of encouragement, Chuck recently made it all the way around the corner on a regular leash.
Inside, he’s learning new commands and building confidence every day.
Most importantly, his family says:
“We love him and he seems to love us. This is his forever home now.”
We couldn’t ask for a better ending for this good boy. ❤️

Meet Jake! This special boy is looking for his forever home. While Jake has had a rough start in life, he has made wonderful progress in foster care. He is still a work in progress and needs a dedicated adopter committed to helping him reach his full potential. Although it may take him some time to warm up to new people, once he does, he reveals a goofy, affectionate personality. He loves cuddling on the couch, playing tug, and getting belly rubs. He now appears totally comfortable as he follows his foster around and sits next to her desk when she is working. Sometimes he thinks he is a lap dog and he loves to sniff out the toy bin and pick up all the toys. He is trustworthy when left alone but he is also crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night. Because Jake is sensitive to loud noises and sudden movements, he would do best in an adult-only home or one with older teenagers. He requires a home with a physically fenced yard, as he has had very little experience with leash walking. He is also new to car rides, so he will need some patience in that area. Jake may thrive with another dog in the home to help him build confidence, though this is not a requirement. He has co-existed well with his foster dog but has not been tested with cats. Most importantly, Jake needs an experienced adopter who understands how to manage anxiety. He is currently on fluoxetine (generic Prozac), which has been helping him significantly, and this medication should be continued in his new home. Jake is a sweet boy with so much to offer a patient family. He would benefit from continued formal obedience training, which may be a requirement depending on the adopter's experience. You will be abundantly rewarded by helping this deserving boy blossom.
