About:
Meet Jake! This special boy is looking for his forever home. While Jake has had a rough start in life, he has made wonderful progress in foster care. He is still a work in progress and needs a dedicated adopter committed to helping him reach his full potential. Although it may take him some time to warm up to new people, once he does, he reveals a goofy, affectionate personality. He loves cuddling on the couch, playing tug, and getting belly rubs. He now appears totally comfortable as he follows his foster around and sits next to her desk when she is working. Sometimes he thinks he is a lap dog and he loves to sniff out the toy bin and pick up all the toys. He is trustworthy when left alone but he is also crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night. Because Jake is sensitive to loud noises and sudden movements, he would do best in an adult-only home or one with older teenagers. He requires a home with a physically fenced yard, as he has had very little experience with leash walking. He is also new to car rides, so he will need some patience in that area. Jake may thrive with another dog in the home to help him build confidence, though this is not a requirement. He has co-existed well with his foster dog but has not been tested with cats. Most importantly, Jake needs an experienced adopter who understands how to manage anxiety. He is currently on fluoxetine (generic Prozac), which has been helping him significantly, and this medication should be continued in his new home. Jake is a sweet boy with so much to offer a patient family. He would benefit from continued formal obedience training, which may be a requirement depending on the adopter's experience. You will be abundantly rewarded by helping this deserving boy blossom.
