Grace Rescues Tucker

Written by Grace Brockett:

On December 15 a very frightened 6 month old puppy was carried into my house because he was too scared to walk. He was placed into my big crate and huddled in the back corner. He was afraid to check the toys I had placed in the crate for quite a while. I spent a lot of time on the floor by the crate including some time during the first night because he was crying. The next day I put his food dish on the floor about 2 feet away from the crate. Gradually he got a little braver and came into the room.

The next day after he walked about 6 feet into the room he almost crawled into my studio .....then saw himself in a mirror and hurried back to the crate. (I moved the mirror and hoped bravery would take over!) He didn't try that room for another day but tried (and succeeded) to go up 2 steps into the kitchen. The tile floor took a while also!

My son and his wife came from Ohio for the Holidays and my son and I worked together to help (now named ) Tucker to get brave enough to explore the rest of the first floor. (I am sure going upstairs will take quite a while!)

He is now comfortable all over the first floor and outside in the back yard running up and down the fence with the 2 noisy corgis next door.....their barking took some bravery to face also!

A dog from down the street who used to play with my previous dog (who died of cancer in July) also comes here to play.

All of us at GRRoM are cheering for you Tucker! We know you landed in a great spot with lots of people who already love you!
