About:

Meet Asia, a sweet, lovable 5-year-old.  After spending most of her life as a breeder dog living in a kennel, Asia is finally learning what it means to be a beloved family pet. When she was done being a mama, she was briefly adopted by a very busy family with a lot of people coming and going.  This was a bit too much of a change for her.  In her peaceful foster home, she has blossomed into an affectionate "Velcro dog". Asia loves to follow her foster mom and canine brother everywhere, lie on the couch with them for pets and cuddles or play in the yard.  She never really got to be a puppy so now she is experiencing many things for the first time. Asia manages some social and separation anxiety with daily Fluoxetine and would do best with a patient family experienced in helping her through this. She is highly treat-motivated, intelligent, loves puzzle toys and is eager to learn about this big new world. She is not crate trained, but she is trustworthy when left alone in a safe area for a few hours.  She loves walks and still needs some time to learn to walk well on leash. Formal positive reinforcement training is not mandatory but strongly recommended. She would likely excel in a class, and it would be a great bonding experience with her new owners. Because she can still be a bit skittish with loud noises or sudden movements, she would do best in a physically fenced yard though other forms of containment may be considered. Children should be teenagers or older and dog-savvy. Asia is great with other dogs and is looking for a patient, experienced home, ideally with another friendly dog to help build her confidence. The rewards for guiding a breeder dog into the dog they were always meant to be are immeasurable.  Asia truly just wants to be loved and part of a home.
